The Psychiatry Department in KIMS provides a comprehensive range of diagnostic and treatment services for patients with Psychiatric and Developmental disorders and their families.It is headed by Dr. Jayaprakash Russell Ravan MBBS,DPM,MD Psychiatry(CMC Vellore).

FUNDED PROJECT :

Catalysing multimorbidity research in Low and Middle Income Countries through a community practice approach: An India-Brazil-UK Initiative This is a capacity building project involving collaborators from UK, Brazil and India. The india team comprises of researchers from RMRC-ICMR, Bhubaneswar, KIMS, Bhubaneswar and PHFI, India. Funding Agency: Medical Research Council, UK Budget estimate – 150000 GBP approx.

VISION :

• Establishment of a de-addiction centre
• Development of a child and adolescent psychiatric clinic
• Specialty Clinics – Memory clinic, addiction clinic, sexual medicine, Child and adolescent clinic, Geriatric clinic, Mind and body clinic
• Establishment of HDU (High dependence unit) within psychiatry ward for critically ill patients
• Establishment of a day care centre & Rehabilitation centre for psychiatric patients
• Procuring of – rTMS, 12 Channel video-telemetric EEG for psychiatry inpatients
• Establishment of a sleep lab
• Aims to make psychiatric department- centre of excellence
