The Department of Physiology received its first batch of MBBS students in 2007 under the able guidance of Prof Dr Minati Sahu. Since then there have been additional batches of BDS, MDS, MD and then PhD in Physiology. The faculty strength now is 8. The faculties presently working are Prof Dr. Jayanti Mishra (Head of Department), Prof Dr. Sudeep Satpathy, Prof Dr. Magna Manjareeka, Dr. Priyadarsini Samanta (Associate Professor), Dr. Soumya Mishra (Assistant Professor), Dr. Rashmi Rani Dash (Assistant Professor), Dr. Anugya Aparajita Behera (Assistant Professor) and Dr Madhuri Panigrahi (Assistant Professor). The following are the special areas of interest of the faculties Dr. Jayanti Mishra – Electrophysiology, Autonomic Neurophysiology, Adolescent mental health; Dr. Sudeep Satpathy – Sports physiology and Exercise Physiology; Dr. Magna Manjareeka – Cardiovascular Physiology, Endocrine Physiology and Medical Education technologies; Dr. Priyadarsini Samanta – Autism Spectrum Disorder, Electroneurophysiology, mental health; Dr. Soumya Mishra –Yoga Therapy, Cardiovascular Physiology, Electroneurophysiology, Stem Cell Physiology; Dr. Anugya Aparajita Behera – Cardiovascular Physiology and Electroneurophysiology; Dr Rashmi Rani Dash-Neonatal Physiology and developmental disorders; Dr Madhuri Panigrahi-Intraoperative neuromodulation and Electrophysiology. ICMR Multicentric project on Chronic Kidney Diseases and Short term ICMR studentship projects have been successfully carried out in the Department under the guidance of faculty members. There have been many publications in National and International journals.

Events Organised :

The faculties have actively participated in the 99th Indian Science Congress in the year 2012 as Coordinators. They have also presented papers in the 99th Indian Science Congress. The faculties have organized various CME programmes and Webinars.
