The Orthopedics Department of KIMS Hospital is at the forefront in providing the latest in orthopedic treatments and surgical techniques. KIMS performs surgical procedures which include the most current Arthroscopic to Arthroplasty, including Major Joint Replacements (Hip & Knee, Revision Joint Replacement and Difficulty Joint Replacement), Complicated Trauma Surgery, Spine Surgery and the most delicate Hand Surgery and much more.
1. Arthroscopic Or KeyHole Surgery (Minimally Invasive Surgical Procedure) :
Arthroscopic or keyhole surgeries to treat disorders of the knee, shoulder, elbow and ankle are routinely performed. Our experienced orthopedic surgeons can diagnose and treat many types of bone and joint problems using minimally invasive techniques. Most minimally invasive orthopedic surgeries are done with the use of an arthroscope, a special thin tool designed for viewing and treating problems inside a joint. The arthroscope is so thin that it can be inserted into the joint through one or more tiny ‘keyhole’ cuts. Appropriate surgery is then performed using specially designed instruments. Recovery is faster due to less tissue trauma.
The most common Arthroscopic procedures include repairing cartilage and meniscal problems of the knee, reconstructing the ligaments in the knee and stabilizing the joint, and repairing Rotator Cuff tears in the shoulder.
2. Joint Replacement & Reconstructive Surgery :
• Total Hip Replacement (THR)
• Resurfacing Hip Replacement
• Total Knee Replacement (TKR)
• Total Shoulder Replacement
• Total Elbow Replacement
• Revision Joint Replacement of Hip & Knee
Minimum invasive surgery is done for Total Hip Replacement (THR) and Total Knee Replacement (TKR). Since surgical incision is small, the patient has an early recovery and is able to walk on the second day of surgery. Total Hip replacement is done through anterior approach, so that the chance of dislocation of hip is rare. As a result, patient is able to squat and square after surgery. Painless Surgery : The surgery is done by combined spinal epidural, so patient experiences no pain for up to three days after surgery.
3. Ilizarov And External Fixation Device :
• Management of open fractures
• Infected non-union of long bones
• Limb lengthening
• Correction of deformities
• Fusion of joints
4. Arthritis :
• Osteoarthritis
• Rheumatoid Arthritis
• Infective Arthritis
• Traumatic Arthritis
5. Trauma And Advanced Fracture Surgery : all rare facture including acetabulum, pelvis & spine
• High quality Swiss ‘AO’ systems help stabilize fractures
• Image intensifier confirms perfect fracture fixations
• Laminar OT facility
6. Spinal Surgery :
• Disc surgery
• Micro surgery for disc
• Fixation systems for fractures
• Surgery for correction of spinal deformities
• Surgery for tuberculosis of spine
• Endoscopic spine surgery
• Tumor surgery
7. Limb Reconstruction Surgery for Bone Tumor :
Custom made knee prosthesis is used for tumor around the knee joints for mobility of knee. Earlier fusion of knee joint was done. Custom made prosthesis for tumors of upper & lower limb& limb salvage surgery.
8. Pediatric Orthopedics :
• Congenital limb and spinal deformities
• Bone and joint infections
• Juvenile arthritis
9. Geriatric Ortho Unit (A Novel Initiative of KIMS Hospital)
The proportion of the aged in the population is increasing due to higher life expectancy and lower birth rate. KIMS Hospital has been getting a steady stream of patients belonging to the age group of 80 to 100 years with complaints of joint problem. The Hospital has set up Geriatric Ortho Unit, a novel initiative of KIMS Hospital, for the benefit of such patients. Geriatric Ortho Unit, along with Geriatric Anesthesia Unit, provides quality treatment of international standard to patients belonging to older age group.
