The Department of Oral & Maxillofacial surgery, Kalinga Institute of Dental Sciences (KIDS), KIITDeemed to be university organized the 5th Chapter of ORACON (The National Conference on Oral Cancer) at KIDS auditorium on February 4, 2018 with the theme “Reconstructing the Resection”.

The keynote speaker of the event was Prof. (Dr.) David P. Tauro, an eminent Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon of India from Bangalore, Karnataka. He delivered his lecture on the topic “Facial Reconstruction after Oral cancer Surgeries”.

The guest speaker of the event was Dr. Niranjan Mishra, Associate Professor from SCB Medical College, Cuttack. He delivered his lecture on the various surgical procedures designed especially for oral cancer treatment. Conference was also graced by Prof. (Dr.) Prasad P. Kulkarni, Head of the department, Department of Periodontics & Oral Implantology, KIDS. He delivered his lecture on the topic “Implant rehabilitation of oral cancer patients”.

On the occasion, one 24x7 Oral Cancer Screening & Counselling Centre was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) David P. Tauro, at the Department of Oral Medicine & Radiology, KIDS, which is equipped with advanced oral cancer diagnostic aids & 24 hrs. Helpline Number for oral cancer patients.

Prof. (Dr.) Ramesh Ch. Das (Director, KIDS), Prof. Dr. B.N. Dutta (Principal, KIDS), Prof. (Dr.) S.B. Ogle (Director, PBMH, KIMS), Dr. Jugajyoti Pathi, (A.O. KIDS), Prof. (Dr.) K. N. V. Sudhakar (Organising Chairperson), Dr. Rajat Mohanty (Organising Secretary), Dr. Abikshyeet Panda (President IDA Templecity Branch), Prof. (Dr.) Md. Jalaluddin (Secretory IDA Templecity Branch) and Dr. Amitabh Panda (Representative NCOPI) were present during the inaugural ceremony of the event. More than 300 delegates including Post graduate students, undergraduate students, general practitioners and faculty members from across Odisha, attended and participated in various scientific events of the conference.
