DEPARTMENT OF ORTHOPEDICS
The Ortho dept. in KIMS Hospital is at the forefront in providing the latest in orthopedic treatments and surgical techniques.
KIMS performs surgical procedures which include the most current Arthroscopic to Arthroplasty including major Joint Replacements
(Hip & Knee, Revision joint replacement, difficulty joint replacement), complicated trauma surgery, Spine surgeries and the most delicate Hand surgeries and much more.
1. Arthroscopic or Key Hole Surgery:
Arthroscopic or keyhole surgeries of the joints are routinely performed. The most common Arthroscopic procedures include Repairing Cartilage and Meniscal problems in the Knee,
reconstructing the ligaments in the Knee and stabilizing the joint, repairing Rotator Cuff tears in the Shoulder.
2. Minimally Invasive Orthopaedic Surgery
The Orthopedic surgeons at the KIMS Hospitals can diagnose and treat many types of bone and joint problems using minimally invasive techniques.
Most minimally invasive orthopedic surgeries are done with the use of an arthroscope, a special thin tool designed for viewing and treating problems inside a joint. The arthroscope is so slim that it can be inserted into the joint through one or more tiny "keyhole" cuts.
Specially designed instruments are used to do appropriate Surgeries. Recovery is faster due to less tissue trauma.
(A) Joint Replacements:
» Total Hip replacement (T.H.R)
» Resurfacing Hip Replacement
» Total Knee replacement (T.K.R)
» Total shoulder replacement
» Total elbow replacement
» Revision joint replacement surgery
Minimum invasive surgery is done for THR & TKR. Since surgical incision is small, the patients have a early recovery and walk on second day of surgery.
Total Hip replacement is done through anterior approach, where dislocation of hip is rare, so patient can squat and square after surgery.
Painless surgery:
The Surgery is done by combined spinal epidural,so patient has no pain for two to three days after surgery.
1. Ilizarov and External Fixation Device:
» Management of open fractures.
» Infected non-union of long bones.
» Limb lengthening.
» Correction of deformities.
» Fusion of joints.
2. Arthritis :
» Osteoarthritis.
» Rheumatoid arthritis.
» Infective arthritis.
» Traumatic arthritis.
3. Arthroscopic Surgery :
Key hole surgery for disorders of the knee, shoulder, elbow and ankle.
4. Trauma and Fracture Surgery :
» High quality Swiss AO systems help stabilize fractures.
» Image intensifier, confirms perfect fracture fixations.
5. Spinal Surgery :
» Disc surgery.
» Micro surgery for disc.
» Fixation systems for fractures.
» Surgery for correction of spinal deformities.
» Surgery for tuberculosis of spine.
» Endoscopic spine surgery.
» Tumor Surgery.
6. Limb reconstruction surgery for bone tumor :
Custom made knee prosthesis is used for tumor around the knee joints for mobility of knee. Earlier fusion of knee joint was done.
7. Pediatric Orthopedics :
» Congenital limb and spinal deformities
» Bone and joint infections
» Juvenile arthritis
8. Geriatric Ortho Unit (A new concept in KIMS)
Now ageing patients are increasing in society because of longer life. Now we used to treat patients of 80-100 yrs regularly in KIMS for fractured patients. So we developed a geriatric Ortho Unit along with Geriatric Anesthesia unit and we treat these old patients with fractures successfully. Since many patients ask can all old person with fracture undergo for surgery? We at KIMS say yes! We can provide a quality treatment of international standard.
The Knee Clinic
It caters to patients having pain and instability resulting from injuries or diseases of the joint. Latest surgical reconstruction and non surgical techniques are used for complete care of the knee joint in all age groups.
